What goes on a QR-bill?
Since October 2022, the QR payment part has replaced the old payment slips. It consists of the receipt on the left and the payment part with the Swiss QR Code on the right, and measures exactly 210 × 105 mm.
- Account: IBAN or QR-IBAN of the payee. You can recognise a QR-IBAN by the institution ID 30000 to 31999 (positions 5 to 9).
- Payee: Name and address. Since November 2025, only the structured address with separate fields for street, number, postcode and town is accepted.
- Amount and currency: CHF or EUR. Without an amount, the payer fills it in.
- Reference: With a QR-IBAN a 27-digit QR reference, with a normal IBAN optionally a Creditor Reference (RF). The reference matches the payment to the invoice automatically.
- Additional information: for example the invoice number.
IBAN or QR-IBAN?
With a normal IBAN, the QR-bill works straight away. You get a QR-IBAN from your bank. It pays off once you issue many invoices: the QR reference comes back with the payment, and your accounting can match the payment to the open invoice automatically.
Printing: what to watch out for
Print at actual size (100%), not “fit to page”. On paper without perforation, the dashed line with the scissors symbol separates receipt and payment part. For sending by email, a PDF is enough.
Frequently asked questions
Is the QR-bill generator really free?
Yes. You need no account and no sign-up. The payment part is generated in your browser – your bank details and addresses are not sent to us.
Can I insert the QR-bill into Word or Excel?
Yes. Download the payment part as SVG and insert it at the bottom of your invoice page. Make sure it appears at actual size (210 × 105 mm).
How do I create a valid QR reference?
The QR reference has 27 digits; the last one is a check digit (modulo 10 recursive). Just enter your invoice number in the generator – the digits are padded to 26 places and the check digit is calculated.
Are payments in euros supported?
Yes, the QR payment part supports CHF and EUR. The account remains a Swiss or Liechtenstein IBAN.
The payment part complies with the Swiss Implementation Guidelines for the QR-bill. As of October 2026.
