Almost every Swiss accounting package now advertises that an AI reads your documents. What that costs is rarely written next to it. Sometimes the analyses are “included” in the plan and then end at 50 per month, sometimes they are charged per unit, sometimes per entry instead of per document. We collected the providers' published prices and brought them to one common measure: what does it actually cost to have X documents captured by machine each month?
Up front, so it is clear who is writing: Accounty is our own product. We therefore made sure to use only publicly published prices, to link every source and also to name the places where others are cheaper than we are.

Why the comparison is harder than it looks
Three things make the comparison messy if you do not deliberately straighten them out.
First, the counting unit. “Document”, “scan”, “analysis”, “file” and “entry” are not the same. Kontera counts entries – a supplier invoice with payment creates two of them while needing only one AI analysis. Putting Kontera and a scan-based provider directly side by side compares two different things. We therefore state the unit in every row.
Second, VAT. bexio, MILKEE and DeepCloud state their prices excluding VAT, Accounty included. On CHF 100 that is a difference of 8.10 francs – enough to flip a ranking. The table below shows both: the price as the provider publishes it, and the same price converted to include 8.1% VAT.
Third, the reference base. At bexio, MILKEE and Accounty the quota applies per client file. At Kontera the fiduciary package belongs to the organisation and is shared across all mandates. 2,500 entries for a firm with 40 mandates are something different from 2,500 for one business.
What the providers publish
As of 11 August 2026, all figures from the official pricing pages. The last column uniformly converts the stated price to include 8.1% VAT.
| Provider and package | Stated price | Captures included | Unit | Converted incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bexio Basic | CHF 35/mo. excl. | none | – | CHF 37.84 |
| bexio Advanced | CHF 42/mo. excl. | 50 per month | AI scans | CHF 45.40 |
| bexio Optima | CHF 69/mo. excl. | 100 per month | AI scans | CHF 74.59 |
| bexio Ultimate | CHF 119/mo. excl. | unlimited, fair use around 1’000 | AI scans | CHF 128.64 |
| MILKEE Basic | CHF 29.90/mo. excl. | 120 per Year – i.e. 10 per month | AI document scans | CHF 32.32 |
| MILKEE Business | CHF 39.90/mo. excl. | 300 per Year – i.e. 25 per month | AI document scans | CHF 43.13 |
| MILKEE Team | CHF 79.90/mo. excl. | unlimited, fair use | AI document scans | CHF 86.37 |
| Kontera Bronze | CHF 14/mo. | 20 per month, then CHF 0.55 | Entries | no VAT information |
| Kontera Silber | CHF 39/mo. | 100 per month, then CHF 0.45 | Entries | no VAT information |
| Kontera Gold | CHF 99/mo. | 300 per month, then CHF 0.40 | Entries | no VAT information |
| DeepCloud DeepO | CHF 0.05 per analysis excl. | 50 in the Advanced Box | Document analyses | CHF 0.054 per analysis |
| Accounty | CHF 29/mo. incl. | 80 per month | AI document analyses | CHF 29.00 |
| Accounty + Upgrade 500 | CHF 68/mo. incl. | 580 per month | AI document analyses | CHF 68.00 |
| Accounty + Upgrade 1’000 | CHF 108/mo. incl. | 1’080 per month | AI document analyses | CHF 108.00 |
| Accounty + Upgrade 2’000 | CHF 188/mo. incl. | 2’080 per month | AI document analyses | CHF 188.00 |
Kontera's fiduciary packages are deliberately not in this table because they apply per organisation, not per client file. They cost CHF 99 for 300 entries, CHF 249 for 900 and CHF 599 for 2,500, with 40, 35 and 30 centimes per further entry.
Broken down to the document
More interesting than the monthly price is what a single machine-captured document costs when you factor in the subscription. All values including VAT, with the quota fully used – the most favourable case for the provider.
| Package | Documents per month | Cost per document |
|---|---|---|
| MILKEE Business | 25 | CHF 1.73 |
| bexio Advanced | 50 | CHF 0.91 |
| bexio Optima | 100 | CHF 0.75 |
| Accounty subscription alone | 80 | CHF 0.36 |
| bexio Ultimate (fair use 1’000) | 1’000 | CHF 0.13 |
| Accounty + Upgrade 500 | 580 | CHF 0.117 |
| Accounty + Upgrade 1’000 | 1’080 | CHF 0.10 |
| Accounty + Upgrade 2’000 | 2’080 | CHF 0.09 |
The order is clear, and it has a simple reason: spreading a quota of 25 or 50 documents over a subscription of 30 to 45 francs inevitably lands in the range of one franc per document. The price per document only falls once the quota is large enough that the subscription no longer dominates.
Where others are cheaper than we are
Two points that speak against us and must not be missing from an honest comparison.
DeepCloud is cheaper at the margin
DeepCloud's DeepO charges 5 centimes excluding VAT for each additional analysis, about 5.4 centimes including. Our upgrades work out at 7.8 to 8.0 centimes per additional document. If you are only buying document capture and want the lowest price for that, you will find it there and not with us.
For context: DeepBox is a document platform with text recognition, not a full Swiss accounting package. A VAT return, payroll, receivables dunning or a guided year-end closing are not part of it, and the organisation additionally needs a subscription that according to the price calculator starts at CHF 19 per month and ends at CHF 199. The two offerings solve different tasks. On the pure price per captured document, however, DeepCloud is undeniably ahead.
MILKEE Team is hard to beat at very high volumes
In the Team package, MILKEE offers unlimited document scans for CHF 79.90 excluding VAT, limited only by a fair-use rule whose threshold is not published. Converted, that is CHF 86.37 including. If you reliably capture 2,000 documents per month and can live with MILKEE's feature scope, you come out cheaper than with our CHF 188 – provided the fair-use limit plays along. That is exactly the catch: an unpublished limit cannot be budgeted. We therefore chose stated tiers, even though a large-print “unlimited” line would advertise better.
Our position is not “cheapest”. It is: the lowest price per document among the complete accounting packages, with a number that is fixed before you buy.
A worked example from practice
A trading business with around 450 supplier documents and 100 till receipts per month, i.e. 550 documents. What does it pay?
- bexio Optima covers 100 scans. For the remaining 450 there is no published per-unit quota – the route leads via Ultimate at CHF 128.64 including VAT, with a fair-use expectation of around 1,000 scans.
- Kontera Gold covers 300 entries. The 550 documents create markedly more entries depending on payment handling; assuming 800, another 500 × CHF 0.40 comes on top of the CHF 99, i.e. CHF 299 per month.
- MILKEE Team costs CHF 86.37 including VAT, fair use permitting.
- Accounty with Upgrade 500 costs CHF 68 including VAT and covers 580 documents.
Two things stand out. First, the results differ by more than a factor of four – for document-heavy businesses the choice of provider is no side issue. Second, the ranking shifts with volume: at 60 documents a month the difference between providers is two-digit in francs, at 550 three-digit.
What to watch when comparing
- Convert the quota to a month. “300 scans” sounds big – if it applies per year, that is 25 a month.
- Check what is being counted. Entries, documents and analyses are three different units. An invoice with payment can be one analysis and two entries.
- Look for the line with the unit price. Whoever publishes none often does not have a cheap one either.
- With “unlimited”, ask for the fair-use threshold. Where it is not published, you do not know your cost ceiling.
- Compare including or excluding VAT, but consistently. 8.1 percent decides close races.
- Look at the whole package. A low scan price helps little if payroll or VAT come as add-on modules.
What Accounty costs, concretely
The subscription costs CHF 29 per month including VAT, with all modules and 80 AI document analyses. If you need more, you add an Automation upgrade : 500 additional documents for CHF 39, 1,000 for CHF 79, 2,000 for CHF 159 – each monthly, including VAT and on top of the subscription. The quota adds up: subscription plus tier 500 makes 580 documents, not 500.
Plus two commitments that matter to us. There is no hard limit: if you exceed it in a month, you are not blocked and get no back-billing. And a repeat analysis of the same document within 24 hours is free – nobody should pay for fixing a crooked scan or double-checking the result.
For fiduciary firms the same principle applies organisation-wide: every mandate brings 50 analyses, and the upgrade is a shared monthly pool across all mandates. The terms are on the page Accounty for fiduciaries.
What we could not compare
Claiming completeness would be dishonest. For several providers no reliable quota for AI document capture could be found – either because the pricing page only offers a configurator, because the topic is not quantified at all, or because statements on different pages of the same provider did not match. That concerns, among others, Accounto, KLARA, CashCtrl, AbaNinja, Infoniqa and Atlanto. We deliberately list them here without a number instead of guessing.
Run my Accounts also does not belong in the table: there, bookkeeping is delivered as a service, a human books along. The price per document is correspondingly higher because it contains something different from a software licence. Putting it next to a software price would not be a comparison but a distortion.

Frequently asked questions
What does an AI document analysis cost in Switzerland?
That depends heavily on the package. Broken down to the single document, the range runs from about 9 centimes to over one franc, because small quotas spread the subscription over few documents. As of August 2026, a document costs about 91 centimes at bexio Advanced, about 75 centimes at bexio Optima and about 9 centimes at Accounty with the 2’000 upgrade – each including VAT and with the quota fully used.
Which provider has the lowest price per captured document?
On pure unit price, DeepCloud: DeepO charges 5 centimes excluding VAT for each additional analysis. DeepBox, however, is a document platform, not a full accounting package, and the organisation additionally needs a subscription from CHF 19 per month. Among the full accounting packages, Accounty leads at 9 to 12 centimes per document.
Why are the quotas so poorly comparable?
Because not everyone counts the same thing. Kontera counts entries, other providers count scans or document analyses. A supplier invoice with payment is one analysis but two entries. Also, some quotas apply per year instead of per month: MILKEE Basic contains 120 scans per year, i.e. 10 per month.
What does “fair use” mean with unlimited scans?
That the limit exists but is not always published. bexio names around 1’000 scans per month as the guideline for the Ultimate package. MILKEE advertises unlimited scans in the Team package with a fair-use reservation, without naming a threshold. Where no number is given, the cost ceiling cannot be budgeted.
How do the upgrades work at Accounty?
They come on top of the subscription and do not replace it. The subscription contains 80 AI document analyses per month for CHF 29 including VAT. An upgrade of 500 documents costs an additional CHF 39, making together 580 documents for CHF 68 per month. There is no hard limit, and re-analysing the same document within 24 hours is free.
